Der Werbefilm steht im Internet vor neuen Herausforderungen: Verbraucher produzieren und veröffentlichen Inhalte selbst, Sehgewohnheiten haben sich in kurzer Zeit stark verändert ein vernetztes Kollektiv bestimmt, was rezipiert wird und wie darüber zu urteilen ist. In diesem Umfeld demokratisierter Sendezeit stellen sich neue Fragen für den Film als Träger einer Werbebotschaft. Wie verbreiten sich "soziale Epidemien" im Netz? Welche Implikationen hat das für die Werbewirkung? Und wie kann der Ansteckungsgrad einer Botschaft gesteigert werden? Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die Erfolgsfaktoren für Werbefilme im Internet anhand theoretischer Grundlagen der Memetik und einer Stichprobenanalyse sog. "Virals. Das Ergebnis ist ein neues, erweitertes Kategoriensystem für Werbefilmformate und eine Aufstellung viraler Techniken oder "memetischer Trigger".
