Symphonies of Mired Songs

My Trip To Abuja Poems

Embark on an evocative journey through the heart of Nigeria with "Symphonies of Mired Songs." This collection, subtitled "My Trip To Abuja Poems," is a poetic exploration of diverse landscapes, emotional nuances, and the pulse of the nation's capital.

The poetic symphony begins with the rhythmic verses of Port Harcourt, each stanza echoing the vibrant spirit of this coastal city. "Nostalgia" takes readers through Etche, capturing moments that linger in the corridors of memory. "Save the Eastern Regions" is a passionate plea, weaving words that resonate with the desire to preserve the cultural heritage of the East.

"Poetry in a Car" accelerates the tempo, painting vivid scenes of a poetic odyssey. As the journey unfolds through Benue and Kogi, the verses dance to the rhythm of changing landscapes. The heart of the collection lies in the Abuja series, where each segment unveils a unique facet of the nation's capital, culminating in the anthem of hope, "The Land Is Green."

Mired Songs II

The second movement of this poetic symphony, "Mired Songs II," is a deep dive into the intricacies of the human experience. "Wandering and Wanderer" sets the tone, portraying life as a continuous journey, akin to fishermen navigating turbulent seas with broken nets. The riverbank becomes a poignant backdrop for reflections on solitude and the call of home.

In "Sermon for the Once Loved" and "Funeral of Things We Lost," the poet delves into the complexities of relationships and the inevitable losses that shape our existence. Section II widens the thematic spectrum, exploring societal dynamics, spirituality, and historical reflections. "Oloibiri 1956" becomes a historical ballad, narrating the struggles and sacrifices of a nation.

"Symphonies of Mired Songs" crescendos with themes of hope, independence, and the perennial quest for a brighter tomorrow. The collection concludes with a poignant meditation on time and love, leaving readers with a sense of introspection.

In its entirety, "Symphonies of Mired Songs" harmonizes diverse themes and emotions, orchestrating a poetic tapestry that resonates with the rhythms of Nigeria's landscapes, history, and the human spirit.
