"The child may suffer from insomnia, disinterest in learning, irritability, crying, and even self harm... He is likely to have depression.

According to the Report on the Development of Chinese National Mental Health (2019 ~ 2020) issued by the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021, almost one in five teenagers has depression.

But cold data may not truly reflect the severity of the situation. This book, for the first time, records the struggles and transformations of 17 families after their children's depression in the form of oral testimony from eyewitnesses: the ""chicken baby"" mother forced the daughter of a top student into depression; Parents argue every day, making their children feel like a burden... Several of these stories have touched the hearts of millions of parents when they were published on the True Story Project.

The medical consultant of this book, Yu Honghua, former chief physician of the Clinical Psychology Department of Beijing Huilongguan Hospital, proposed a specific family treatment plan: psychological nurturing. Teenagers are in a period of rapid psychological development, with intense emotional fluctuations. If they do not receive proper psychological support from their parents, it is highly likely to trigger depression.
