Meet Beverley: she's timid, shy, struggles in social settings and has health problems that prevent her from living life to the full. She is, however, appreciative of the things she does have, a bond with her sister, Dina, who is so different from her, and the love of Troy, her childhood sweetheart who may be caring, but can also be controlling.
When Troy leaves her, Beverley feels free. She meets Jay, thoughtful and unlike any love she has ever felt before, and a lifetime of happiness beckons. But when Jay abandons her unexpectedly, she feels like her world has fallen apart.
Troy is never far away, and when he returns to Beverley's life and asks for her hand in marriage, she accepts, realising that it's better to be almost happy than not at all. But these slivers of happiness are threatened when Jay returns, bringing with him secrets that could destroy her world. A world that is so carefully held together with hope.
How can Beverley ignore the betrayal that has torn apart every fabric of her life?
How can she leave everything she loves, so she can finally be free?
