By way of a 'walk in'-slipping into the body of the sexually sadistic, dying condottiere, Rafael Valencia--Taos Pueblo shaman Manuel Mondragon transcends time and space to unite once again with his beloved, now the Countess Melissande of Languedoc, groomed from birth to rule over her matriarchal Court of Chivalry.

Hired to protect her, Man is dismayed to find that Melissande has no recollection of their souls' past life together. Worse, is the unanticipated duality he must now contend with-his soul's love competing for supremacy with Valencia's savage lust.

And to Melisande's equal dismay, she realizes not only is she falling in love with the condottiere, but she also is discovering this unsuspected part of her that welcomes the condottiere's dominance, which is initiating her into exploration of the dark side of passion and pain and pleasure.

As she unravels, she struggles to retain her rule over her fiefdom's boundaries, besieged by both the King of France and the Pope, while the merciless mercenary's erotic seduction is besieging her personal boundaries.
