Conversations with Grandfather

Ward Stanford is an ex-con whose life is in shambles. He has failed at everything he has ever attempted. After enduring jail and homelessness, Ward is trying to turn his life around. But when a letter arrives in his mailbox, everything changes.

Lauren Reslin, Ward's estranged daughter, is requesting that he visit her in Montana. When Ward arrives, Lauren informs her father she has only a few months to live. Despite his lousy reputation as a father and nonbeliever, Ward reluctantly agrees to take over the responsibility of raising his rebellious grandson, Mathias, as a Christian. Mathias is an inquisitive and fatherless thirteen-year-old who becomes increasingly hostile and defiant when his mother dies. To help Mathias deal with his anger, Ward must first win his trust, despite their differences in how they view the world. As their conversations slowly become poignant and meaningful, both man and boy soon gain more than they ever imagined.
