Outside Richmond, John Washington III and Dutch listen to the stolen White House tape a third time and hear a fragment they had missed: President Halston threatening to name and bury every man in the room who signed for Operation Sentinel. John concludes Halston is abandoning his co-conspirators, and that those men - including General Voss and Leland Marsh - will remove the president to protect themselves. A call warns that encrypted Sentinel communications are pointed at the Dallas motorcade route, nine days before the parade. Denise passes on Ruth's list of the twelve men in the windowless room, and John and Dutch make three copies of the tape for caches in Dutch's hangar, a Richmond locker, and a Charlottesville bank box under Claire Bennett's name. John visits Claire, who is pregnant at a farmhouse, then flies with Dutch in a crop duster to Dallas. Walking Dealey Plaza on November 20, he sees the slow turn from Houston onto Elm, the open windows of the Texas School Book Depository, and a man stacking boxes on the sixth floor who looks directly into his camera. A typed note warns him to go home, and his calls to the Secret Service and Dallas police are dismissed. Book 7 of The Authorization series by John Washington III.
