F.W.J. Schelling's 'Denkmal der Schrift von den göttlichen Dingen' was published at the end of January 1812 after only two months of editing as a reply to F.H. Jacobi's 'Von den göttlichen Dingen und ihrer Offenbarung'. Jacobi and Schelling's dispute, known as the "Theism Controversy", can be regarded as one of the most significant disputes within Classical German Philosophy. Schelling later even considered his "polemic" to be the basis of his Berlin "Philosophy of Revelation". This volume contains the texts of the historical-critical editions of Schelling's and Jacobi's works, a detailed introduction, explanatory notes and an extensive bibliography and index.
