The last U.S. draftee reported for duty in 1973. However, the draft system remains in place and all 18 to 25 year-old U.S. male citizens and immigrants are legally required to register with the Selective Service System. Part I of Draftee includes a description of the personal journey of a draftee who survived combat in Vietnam.
