EXPLORING FACTORS AFFECTING STUDENTS' PERCEPTION AND CHALLENGES IN LEARNING MATHEMATICS

The book "Exploring Factors Affecting Students' Perception and Challenges in Learning Mathematics" delves into the various factors that shape students' attitudes toward mathematics and the challenges they face in mastering the subject. The methodology for developing this book chapter is based on a narrative inquiry approach, focusing on related literature reviews. The research involved collecting stories from eight students through in-depth interviews to understand their perceptions and challenges in learning mathematics. By using narrative inquiry, the complexity of each student's life and experiences was captured, offering a deep insight into their learning journey. Moreover, the data collected from each story were analyzed and interpreted in relation to the study's conceptual framework, which considers personal beliefs, societal influences, school environments, and emotional challenges. The methodology involved comparing the students' narratives to identify recurring themes and patterns that highlight the broader personal, social, and institutional factors influencing mathematics learning.
