GAYCATION

Tobias Schneider can spot a lie before it has even been fully told. He is German, works in fraud, and lives alert to patterns, risks, emergency exits and badly worded clauses. What he cannot spot is his own lie.

A few weeks before his wedding to Laura Weber, Tobias tries to explain that he needs to go to Ibiza with Callum Taylor, his future brother-in-law, for a "gaycation": a supposed getaway where two engaged men could sleep with other men without it really counting as infidelity. Just a few days. Just an experience. Just Ibiza.

Laura does not buy it. Nor does her twin sister, Lea.

With two broken engagements, four non-refundable tickets and a word that no longer works as an alibi, Tobias and Callum travel to the island anyway, accompanied by Jan, a sarcastic professional of aesthetic cruelty, and Lukas, a man fresh out of a break-up who considers falling for a kind waiter to be a moderately high-risk activity. What was meant to be a private fantasy turns into a trip for men with problems, too many linen shirts and an alarming inability to drink water before making decisions.

Ibiza does not take long to dismantle their plan.

Between Dalt Vila, Figueretas, Calle de la Virgen, beaches full of real bodies, VIP lists, fake wristbands, overcrowded bars and nights that do not forgive a lack of sleep, Tobias meets Daniel, who knows exactly what kind of men arrive in Ibiza looking for an epiphany.

As the trip progresses, Tobias begins to understand that his problem was never wanting a man. It was trying to turn that desire into a convenient, one-sided exception with no consequences. And Daniel, who has also made the night into an elegant way of never standing still, will discover that setting boundaries does not always stop you from feeling.
On an island where everything seems permitted, Tobias will have to learn the only rule that matters: what happens in Ibiza does not stay in Ibiza.
