Goodbye to Valor is a historical novel. The story is based on what my father, Avrum Margolis, shared about his experiences during war and peace in Russia during the first two decades of the twentieth century. The story enfolds with the interaction of four young men-an Orthodox Jew, a Russian Orthodox Christian, an Agnostic / Atheist, and my father, Avrum, a secular Jew. The four young men are admitted to the university in Kiev and participate in the Army reserve program during the war. The four young men maintain a close friendship as the tumultuous years roll by and despite political and religious differences as they adapt to wartime and revolution.
