I Think I Have the Wiggle Fidgets

An empowering ADHD picture book about big ideas, busy bodies, and finding what worksDavid wants to do well in school. He really does. But when exciting ideas pop into his head—or his legs start to feel extra wiggly—paying attention suddenly becomes very, very hard. David doesn’t mean to distract his classmates. He doesn’t plan to test how far pudding can fly or balance on one foot during a fire drill. The problem is, his “great ideas” only seem like mistakes after they happen. When a particularly messy mishap leads to a note home, David decides it’s time for his greatest discovery yet: a plan to manage his wiggle fidgets. With creativity and determination, David develops his own toolkit for success, including attention reminder cards to keep his focus on track, a silent timer to break work into manageable chunks, a fidget toy for super-wiggly days, and helpful movement breaks to reset his energy. As David shares his ideas with his teacher and parents, something wonderful happens—his challenges begin to look a lot like strengths. Part of the Adventures of Everyday Geniuses series, this award-winning and beloved picture book offers a warm, humorous, and relatable introduction to ADHD.
