La enfermedad de Kienböck.

La enfermedad de Kienböck es una necrosis del semilunar cuyo origen todavía plantea numerosos interrogantes. En esta obra, tras un novedoso estudio anatómico del semilunar y su vascularización, se efectúa un exhaustivo examen sobre su origen, sometiendo a crítica las diversas teorías que al respecto se han formulado. De igual modo, se analiza la clínica, las exploraciones complementarias y el diagnóstico diferencial de la enfermedad de Kienböck, aspectos todos ellos fundamentales para detectarla en sus fases iniciales que permitan un rápido y eficaz tratamiento. Finalmente, se analizan los diferentes tratamientos que en la actualidad se están empleando en función del estadio de la enfermedad, identificando sus ventajas e inconvenientes. Claudia Lamas Gómez, Doctora en Medicina y Cirugía (1998), es Médico Adjunto de la Unidad de Cirugía de la Mano y Extremidad Superior del Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, adscrito a la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona; y es miembro de la Sociedad Española de Cirugía de la Mano. Ha dedicado más de diez años al estudio de esta enfermedad, y ha participado en numerosos congresos nacionales e internacionales sobre cirugía de la mano. Sus aportaciones han sido publicadas en las revistas especializadas más relevantes, como el Journal of Hand Surgery o el Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. Kienböck's disease is a necrosis of the lunate in which many questions are still remaining. In this monograph, a new approach is being introduced on the anatomical study of the lunate and their vascularity, followed by an exhaustive research of the motives causing the disease and studying the different theories that in this respect has been formulated. It has also been analysed the clinical and the radiological imaging of the wrist (X-ray, MR Imaging and CT scan) and the differential diagnosis of Kienböck's disease, being all of them key factors to define the disease in their initial phases, allowing a quick and effective treatment. Finally, the different treatments applied today are analysed taking into account the progress of the disease, identifying advantages and disadvantages. Claudia Lamas Gómez, MD, Ph.D, is a Hand Surgeon at the "Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau", Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) and member of the Spanish Society of Hand Surgery. She has dedicated more than ten years studying this disease, and she has participated in numerous national and international congresses of hand surgery. Her studies has been published in the most outstanding specialized journals, such as the Journal of Hand Surgery and the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
