MAGIC WAS FORBIDDEN. NOW IT MAY BE THEIR ONLY HOPE.

Leif Andreist has a talent for just about everything, but winning a fight isn't one of them.

At Archon Academy, battle rankings make heroes, and Leif can't win a sparring match to save his life. Then a mysterious rune ignites on his wrist, marking him as the first bearer of Old Magic in a thousand years.

In Vederfiel, machines rule, and magic is forbidden. Leif's strange new power could change everything. It could also make him the most hunted boy in the kingdom.

When his father vanishes on a dangerous mission, Leif sets out to find him, joined by his best friend, his school nemesis, and a teacher with secrets of his own. But the deeper they venture into Vederfiel's hidden history, the more dangerous the truth becomes.

Old magic is waking. The Soul Stealer wants to control Leif and his kingdom before it can return.

Leif has never been the hero anyone expected. Now the fate of a kingdom may depend on the one thing that makes him different.
