The Roaring Twenties: everybody is heading to Europe. Hollywood stars, oil tycoons, tennis champs, wealthy patrons of the arts, but also political rabblerousers, celebrity spiritualists and jazz musicians. Recently widowed, Rose Melbourne is like most of them - she longs to spend her large inheritance on haute couture dresses and finely crafted baubles. But she also wants to rekindle the dying embers of her fame. It's been 10 years since she was on an opera stage or movie set, and America has mostly forgotten her. Europe, she is sure, will remember. A new life, rich and exciting, awaits her in London and Paris. Only one person can stop her: the stern-looking Miss Alderbrook, hired by her stepchildren to curb her spendthrift ways.

But when important people begin dropping dead on the ocean liner Olympic, suspicion falls on the tempestuous diva and her mysterious assistant. From antagonists, they become allies, joining forces with a naïve maid and a worldly Black dancer to clear their names. Along the way, they uncover the secrets of the rich and powerful and put their lives at greater risk. Can they find the murderer before the murderer finds them?
