Perverted Minds, Empty Ideals is a political and philosophical essay proposing an intellectual autopsy of collectivist ideologies, tracing their lineage from the Renaissance naivety of Thomas More to the revolutionary praxis of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.
Beginning with the imaginary island depicted in Utopia - where the State controls daily routines, clothing, and even the architecture of cities - Judivan Vieira demonstrates how this childlike impulse to redesign human nature was later cloaked in the abstract mysticism of Hegel's German Idealism, which deified the State and dissolved the individual into the collective. In the hands of Marx and Engels, this empty metaphysical castle was transformed into ruthless social engineering, a "totalitarian virus" that replicated itself across different national ecosystems - China, Cuba, Venezuela, and Brazil - invariably producing poverty, surveillance, and institutional collapse.
In the second half of the work, the author maps the concrete outcomes of these experiments and dismantles the geopolitical influence of the São Paulo Forum. As an antidote, Vieira rehabilitates the empirical realism of Aristotelian politics and grounds - in light of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - the legitimacy of the Right of Resistance as a mechanism for democratic rebalancing whenever the State abandons its covenant with human dignity.
