Public Papers and Letters of Cameron Morrison

"PUBLIC PAPERS AND LETTERS OF CAMERON MORRISON" offers a comprehensive and authoritative look at the executive leadership of North Carolina during a transformative era in the early twentieth century. Serving as Governor from 1921 to 1925, Cameron Morrison oversaw significant advancements in the state's infrastructure and social services. This collection, compiled by D. L. Corbitt, brings together official proclamations, messages to the General Assembly, public addresses, and vital correspondence that defined Morrison's administration.

Known as the "Good Roads Governor," Morrison's papers detail his commitment to modernization and the expansion of the state highway system, which fundamentally altered the economic landscape of North Carolina. The text also explores his efforts regarding educational improvements and the expansion of state institutions during the post-WWI boom. These documents serve as an invaluable primary source for historians, political scientists, and readers interested in the evolution of Southern governance. Through his formal writings and personal letters, the reader gains a profound understanding of the challenges and triumphs of a leader dedicated to the progress and industrial development of his state.
