Some people are born to put down roots. Lolo Teague has spent most of her life making sure hers never grow too deep.

Lowenna "Lolo" Teague is a successful children's author, traveller and lifelong surfer who has built a life around movement. Her old Cornish home in Porthmorrow is somewhere she returns to between adventures - not somewhere she intends to stay.

Then she discovers four local teenagers quietly using an abandoned harbour boathouse because they have nowhere else to go.

The building is falling apart. The harbour trust needs money. A developer is ready to turn it into a luxury coastal home.

And Lolo is supposed to be leaving for Portugal in three days.

What begins as a reckless attempt to save an old building soon pulls in teenagers, neighbours, volunteers, strangers from across the world, one formidable woman named Marnie Penrose - and Jude Merrick, a boatbuilder with sawdust in his hair who may be considerably harder to walk away from than Lolo would prefer.

As the fight for the boathouse grows into something much bigger, Lolo is forced to confront a question she has spent years avoiding:
