The composition of self-compacting concrete (SCC) is highly specific, notably due to its high sand content in relation to the aggregates. Any variation in the nature or quality of the sand influences its rheological, mechanical and durability properties. Due to its high paste content, low water/binder ratio and absence of bleed water, BAP is very sensitive to surface drying, which can lead to early cracking or crusting. Thus, the choice of curing regime is crucial to preserving its performance. Alluvial sand, commonly used in concrete, is seeing its resources depleted. It is therefore becoming necessary to consider alternatives such as quarry sand and dune sand, which are available in greater quantities. This book summarizes research into the influence of the nature and dosage of different sands on the physical and mechanical properties and durability of BAP. It also presents a review of the effects of hardening regimes on mechanical performance, focusing on the specific characteristics of BAP.
