The Last Great Spirit

"Apparently, surviving magical academy trials and uncovering ancient conspiracies was the easy part. Who knew that juggling coursework, a sarcastic spirit familiar, and an engagement to the wrong heir while being hopelessly in love with the right one would be so complicated? My familiar says I have a talent for dramatic timing. I prefer to call it 'magically enhanced poor life choices.'"

Vaeris Arvel thought getting into Nine Cuts Academy would solve her problems. Instead, she's discovered that major houses have been hiding dark secrets for centuries, her desperate deal with House Vashen is about to become public knowledge, and the void-wielding heir she's falling for now knows she's engaged to someone else. Oh, and apparently her spirit summoning abilities are rewriting the rules of magic itself, which is making some very powerful people very nervous.

Between dodging political schemes, mastering forbidden techniques, and trying not to melt every time Calder Sagen looks at her, Vaeris is quickly learning that surviving the academy trials was nothing compared to surviving academy politics. Especially when her choices could either restore the balance between realms or destroy everything she's worked to protect.
