In 1998, Aimee Miller agrees to her friends' MAN CLEANSE contract-her only true confidantes demand she quit men and her toxic promiscuous ways---and she'll do it because they are the only people she'll listen to.
Aimee's demanding work lifestyle in Los Angeles leads her childhood friend to urge her to leave the city for the gritty but charming Hermosa Beach, where they rent a modest apartment, but it's only steps from the sand and the stunning sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. A world away (but only 25 miles) from where she came from. Aimee finds unexpected comfort in the laid-back community and finds her soul-mates are from all over the country, with very different cultures, economic classes, and regional traditions---but they all share the same Generation X bonds with music, movies, television shows, and expectations of their parents.

The hard partying crew support and take care of each other, marveling in the magic that they found the same, unknown, one-square-mile town at the same time in history to meet each other.

Aimee, haunted by her struggles from her teen years-including undiagnosed dyslexia, anxiety, and family troubles-Aimee battles insecurities, yet her new neighbors accept her without question.

The women she meets in Hermosa work and play hard, and Aimee is quickly drawn into their world of bars, parties, and many attractive men. When her friends notice self-destructive patterns, they urge her to swear off men for six months.
During the "CLEANSE", Aimee begins to heal and finds that her most important friend is her new neighbor, Matt MacLoughlin, who will wait patiently for her to complete the contract, knowing she'll be a better version of herself and ready for something real, with him.

If you loved "Sex And The City" but wanted Carrie to choose Aidan the first time, just like Marianne (Sense And Sensibility) chose Col. Branden, and Elsa (Casablanca) chose Victor Laszlo, you will LOVE this story.
