The Matapan Gate: Return of the Spartans is Raymond R. Mann's second book in the Lost Portal series. The Titan god Cronus continues his efforts to reclaim the throne on Mount Olympus, which he lost when Zeus and his brothers, Poseidon and Hades defeated the Titans and became rulers of the Cosmos. His army of Gious soldiers, (the sons of Cronus) have occupied the region of Laconia in the Peloponnese and are preparing to march on Olympus. The poet Alagon presents the story in the same detail as he did in his epic work, The Lost Portal: A Quest to Save Olympus and the Underworld. In which he introduced Captain Antonio Galanis and his Green Beret A-Team. They fought side by side with gods and goddesses of Olympus to defeat the forces of Cronus in the Battle of the Plain of Reeds. It's now twenty years later and the team is back together as war breaks out in Laconia. This time there are deeper issues at play. The Universe has been disrupted, limiting the powers of Zeus and the Olympians to aid in the fight. A portal from Olympus into the mortal world has blurred the lines between gods and mortals.
